Located outside the hustle and bustle of Bangkok, this original Gary Player parkland design which was slightly revamped recently by Jon Morrow and TurfPro Golf's Craig Bertram allows you to get back to nature and enjoy the peacefulness of the Thai countryside as it sits amid traditional rice fields and offers a serenity type atmosphere.

 

As soon as you drive into the Resort you feel a sense of relaxation come over you and your senses are awakened by the multiple shades of green, blossoming flowers and the melody of singing birds in the air.  Yes, you have left the bourdons of city life behind and are about to enjoy a hidden oasis for a pleasant yet challenging and rewarding round of golf.

 

Walking into the open air lobby of the 5-star boutique clubhouse you are greeted by smiling local employees that are well rehearsed in making sure you enjoy your day away from the city.  After checking in, you can prepare for the round by warming up in the covered hitting area on the well kept range which also features an Academy area equipped with a couple of swing rooms with video analysis to capture your swing.

 

When you have fine tuned your swing for the day, make sure to hit a few putts on

the large and perfectly manicured putting area to get a sense of the speed and undulations that are waiting for you out on the course.  Once ready to go, your ever positive and smiling caddie, who is going to be able to save you countless strokes with her wealth of knowledge for course strategy and reading the greens, will escort you to the opening hole.

 

As you make your way around this excellently laid out design, you begin to realize where it received its name as gorgeous framing water hazards dotted with beautiful lotus flowers seem to present themselves on nearly every hole.  Although water is prevalent on the majority of holes, the beauty of this carefully crafted layout offers you areas that allow you to miss and recover from away from the lotus oasis and other lagoons, allowing all levels of golfer's to enjoy their day.

 

With four sets of tees measuring from just over 7000 yards from the tips, Lotus Valley Golf Resort offers you all the challenge you desire to take on.  The well shaped bunkering and water hazards beautifully frame the manicured Seashore Paspalum fairways which seems to tee up the ball perfectly and become a premium to hit.  Once you get onto the putting surfaces, listen to your caddie as they know all the subtleties and breaks on these true rolling greens and will have you putting like a pro.

 

The round seems to come too quick to an end as you really do feel a connection with nature in the serene surroundings that make Lotus Valley the perfect getaway and with future plans for an onsite hotel, you will soon be able to make this escape to nature a multi-day affair.

 

After the round you can freshen up using traditional showers or relax in very popular Japanese Hot Baths.  Once revived and relaxed, be sure to enjoy from a large selection of delicious choices from the menu in either the air conditioned indoor Lotus Leaf restaurant or the fan cooled outdoor terrace which both offer you panoramic views overlooking the 18th hole.
